Why Extend Your Mitsubishi’s Breathers?
Your differentials, gearbox and transfer case heat up while the vehicle is being driven. As the internal temperature rises, the air inside these components expands and is released through the factory breathers.
When a hot drivetrain enters cold water, the air inside rapidly contracts and creates a vacuum. If a factory breather is submerged at the time, contaminated water may be drawn into the drivetrain through the breather or surrounding seals.
A Mitsubishi breather extension kit moves the breather outlets to a higher location, helping keep them clear of water and mud for longer during off-road use.
Choose a 2-Port or 4-Port Breather Kit
Our Mitsubishi breather kits are available in two configurations.
2-Port Kit
The 2-port kit is designed to extend the front and rear differential breathers. This is a practical option for vehicles mainly used for lighter off-road driving and occasional water crossings.
4-Port Kit
The 4-port kit extends the breathers for both differentials, the gearbox and the transfer case. This provides more complete drivetrain protection and is the recommended option for vehicles regularly used on riverbeds, muddy tracks or deeper water crossings.
Each kit includes the required breather filters, air hose, hose connectors, cable ties and a protective mounting bracket. Fitting advice is also included.
Designed for DIY Installation
Most Mitsubishi diff breather kits can be installed using basic hand tools. Installation generally takes between one and four hours, depending on the vehicle and the number of breathers being extended.
